This is Southlands July 2010
WELCOME to the website of Southlands Methodist Church in the historic city of York.
The congregation here is continually on the look-out for outreach and mission opportunities in the community in which we are set and has an active programme of work with children, young people and young adults in particular.
This is one of the reasons why we are also heavily involved in the work of Churches Together in South West York and in particular with the open air event at which the Archbishop of York, Dr John Sentamu, spoke on Sunday, July 18, to mark the 10th anniversary of the start of Praise by the Bridge (see under News for more information).
At first sight our premises are typical of those built in the Victorian era, but we have a modern, welcoming worship centre, a useful suite of meeting rooms and a community centre which is home to most of our work with children and young people.
You may be a visitor looking for a church in which to worship or you may be a resident looking for a church which meets your needs. Either way you will find a warm welcome at Southlands.
Worship
Sunday services normally take place at 10.30am and 6.30pm though this month there was no evening service at Southlands on July 11 (circuit service at Fulford).
As we are part of the York South Circuit our preachers are drawn from a team of ministers and local preachers who preach the Gospel of Christ.
Holiday Kids Club 2010
OUR holiday kids club this year from August 2 to 6 is now fully booked. But you can still apply to join a waiting list for places. For further information, and to print off an application form, click on "News" above.

Southlands is just a few minutes walk outside the city walls and 15 minutes walk from the railway station. For the precise location see under "About us"
Visiting groups
Church groups visiting York, or organisations planning one day conferences are invited to try Southlands hospitality. Our catering team can provide lunches and teas on our premises by prior arrangement.
