Where we are

THE postcode for Southlands Methodist Church, in Bishopthorpe Road, York, is YO23 1NX, which on a Google map produces a point a couple of hundred metres away from where the church is situated. We have used a Multimap, below, which has allowed us to adjust the positioning of the red circle to the point at which the church is actually situated.

Head away from the city centre and in Bishopthorpe Road you will pass through a very good local shopping area, before heading up a hill. You will find the church at the top of the hill on the corner of Bishopthorpe Road and Southlands Road, near a spot at one time occupied by a windmill. The church has its own nine-space car park with access from the top of Nunmill Street, a road which runs almost parallel to Bishopthorpe Road. But there is a public pay-and-display car park at the bottom of the hill near the shops in Bishopthorpe Road where there is a charge of 20p an hour.

Alternatively, there is a half-hourly bus service, the No. 11 for Keble Park (Bishopthorpe) which passes the church. Catch it in the city centre at Ousegate, Rougier Street or York Railway Station, and ask to be put off at the "Southlands Chapel" bus stop which  is opposite the church.
