Bible study

God's Word for today

1.  Ecumenical studies

FROM time to time we are involved in ecumenical studies arranged by Churches Together in South West York, especially in Lent.
Last year we used the latest York Courses material, RICH INHERITANCE, examining Jesus' legacy of love, over five weeks from March 13.
We had three house groups in the area on different days.

2. E100 Challenge

As a result of the Biblefresh initiative last year, we are challenging members to use the E100 Challenge to look at 100 Essential Bible passages. As a result we have two Bible study groups meeting on a regular basis with the possibility of a third.

The Southlands FLAME (young adults) group is also taking part in the E100 Challenge, meeting on Tuesday evenings.

To be put in touch with a Bible Study Group, contact Bob on 01904 639231.

3.  That's Life study course

THIS was something of an experiment for us as we attempted to look at some topical issues and explore what God has to say about them, with the aid of the Bible.
We set aside five dates for these studies, all Wednesdays in January, February and March, 2011, starting at 14:00 and lasting about an hour-and-a-half. They seemed to go very well.

4.  For students and young adults

FLAME, a group catering for students and young adults, has a Bible study evening most Tuesdays at 7.30pm, at the home of Naomi and David Whittaker, at 104 Bishopthorpe Road.

5.  Bible study aids

VARIOUS aids to private Bible study are available through the church bookstall. There is a huge range to choose from and bookstall manager Chera Blower would be delighted to help you.

For more information, phone Bob Lawrence on 01904 639231 or, for FLAME, Naomi Whittaker on 01904 635278.
