The worshipping community

A Worshipping Community

THE main purpose of the church is to be a place of worship where people can meet regularly to praise God, to learn about God’s love and purpose for His people, and be inspired to work and witness for God in the days that follow.

Sunday services normally take place at 10:30. On the second Sunday of each month we also hold an evening service at 18:30.

Like many Methodist churches across the country we followed the Methodist Church's national initiative for Bible Month from Sunday, 18th June, with services and Bible study all set to help us understand better the Letter of James.

Then on Sunday, 16th July, we and all Methodist congregations in the area came together at Central Methodist Church, York, for a big FaithWorks Celebration lasting for 2½ hours from 2.30pm. The guest preacher was the Rev Calvin Samuel.

Apart from celebrating what we have learned from our studies of the Letter of James, this event also gave the circuit the opportunity to say "Farewell" to several of the circuit staff who were moving on.

Our Covenant Service

Our annual Covenant Service, which takes place in January, is a uniquely Methodist service. It is very special to us as we renew our promise to serve God wherever he calls us, in whatever way he calls and in any situation in which we find ourselves.
